Club Officer Vacations

Club President Mike Riley and Vice President Frank Fox will be away from July 3rd through July 11th. If an issue can't wait until their return, please contact Club Secretary Bob Girard or Financial Secretary John Stevens.

Stonington Grounds

Club member Jim Friedlander will be leading the effort to paint of the Stonington post and beam buildings. Please call Jim at 536-4058 to get more information regarding how you can help with this effort.

Kitchen Committee

The kitchen committee is always looking for members to help during Sunday breakfasts. Those of you who've had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday breakfast at the Club understand the importance of the members who volunteer their time to provide this great service. It's important to remember that we don't just need cooks, but dishwashers, order takers, etc. This is a terrific way to get your work hours in, as well. Please call George Crouse at (860) 536-0806 for more information.

Summer Clambake

In celebration of the Club's 70th anniversary, a family Clambake will be held on August 14th. The event kicks off at 12:00 pm, with the main course being served at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $35 for adults who order a lobster or a steak and $25 for adults who don't want a lobster or a steak. Kids ages 12 and under are free.

The Clambake will feature games, prizes, and raffles for the kids. There will also be an adult raffle. Contact Jeff Pollard for tickets at 860-536- 8130. The deadline for ticket purchase is August 7th. The rain date is scheduled for August 15th. As usual, all ranges will be closed during the Clambake.

The Board of Directors is actively encouraging the most senior members of the Club to attend this year's event. For those of you who have yet to attend a Clambake, the camaraderie is second to none and the kids always have a great time. Let's hope for some great weather!

Giving Thanks

A special thanks goes out to Steve Christiansen for providing the firearm awarded to John Horan at his testimonial dinner. The dinner was a wonderful success.

Work Party

Bill Salisbury is going to host a work party on July 10th, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in Voluntown. The focus of the day's activities is to clean out the garage in preparation for installing new garage doors. We'll have a dumpster on site and we'll use the opportunity to get rid of other unused clutter that's around the property, as well. If there is bad weather, we'll shift it to July 11th, same time. Bill needs about six people. Please call him and let him know if you're going to help out. Bill's phone number is (401)364-8949.

Meet the Candidate

Republican Brian Kluberdanz, who will face off against Democratic State Representative Diana Urban in the 43rd District, has been invited to speak at the Club before the July 21st membership meeting. This will be a great opportunity for Club members to greet Brian and talk about sportsmen's issues.

Club Newsletter

Receiving the newsletter via e-mail helps save postage and returned mail. If you want to get the newsletter by e-mail, send a note with your name and membership number to riwhaler@hotmail.com and jimandmarykelley@aol.com.

NOTE: If there is a special meeting notice, the club bylaws require delivery of the newsletter by US Mail. As a result, you'll receive it in the mail, even if you've requested e-mail delivery.

Please be sure to notify Jim Kelley jimandmarykelley@aol.com should your address change. Also, if you have requested e-mail and somehow begin getting the newsletter again by snail mail, it's probably because your internet service provider has rejected your request.
